AR and VR Game Development Program

Build immersive experiences from scratch. This nine-month program takes you from basic concepts to launching your own AR/VR projects, with real hardware and hands-on mentorship.

Duration

Nine months of focused learning, starting June 2026. Weekly sessions plus project labs.

Format

Hybrid model. Join us in Barcelona twice monthly, with online sessions and project reviews throughout.

Group Size

Maximum 18 participants. Small cohorts mean you get direct feedback and actual attention.

What You'll Actually Learn

We start with Unity fundamentals and spatial design principles. By month four, you're working with Quest headsets and AR toolkits.

Foundation Phase

Three months on Unity basics, C# scripting, and 3D asset workflows. You'll build simple games first—understanding core mechanics before adding the immersive layer.

Immersive Development

Next three months introduce VR SDK integration, hand tracking, and spatial audio. This is where you start thinking in three dimensions and designing for presence.

Capstone Project

Final stretch focuses on your portfolio piece. Could be an AR training simulation, a VR puzzle game, or an experimental art experience. Your choice, our guidance.

Core Curriculum Breakdown

We organized the program into four main modules. Each one builds on the previous, but there's flexibility if you want to dive deeper into specific areas that match your interests.

Unity Essentials

  • Scene composition and prefab systems
  • Physics engines and collision detection
  • C# scripting patterns for games
  • Asset pipeline and optimization basics
  • Version control with Git workflows

Spatial Design

  • VR comfort and locomotion strategies
  • UI design for three-dimensional spaces
  • Environmental storytelling techniques
  • Sound design for immersive audio
  • Accessibility considerations in XR

AR Frameworks

  • ARCore and ARKit fundamentals
  • Plane detection and anchoring systems
  • Light estimation and shadows
  • Multi-user AR experiences
  • Mobile optimization for AR apps

Production Skills

  • Project scoping and milestone planning
  • Performance profiling and debugging
  • Build pipelines for Quest and mobile
  • Playtesting protocols and iteration
  • Portfolio presentation strategies

Who's Teaching This

Portrait of Arnau Vilanova, lead instructor

Arnau Vilanova

Lead Instructor

Spent six years at a Barcelona studio working on VR training simulations. Now teaches Unity full-time and still consults on spatial design projects.

Portrait of Silja Kemppainen, AR specialist

Silja Kemppainen

AR Specialist

Built AR experiences for museums and retail brands. She handles the mobile AR modules and helps with optimization challenges.

Portrait of Dmitri Volkov, technical mentor

Dmitri Volkov

Technical Mentor

Game engineer with focus on performance. Dmitri runs the debugging workshops and code review sessions throughout the program.

Portrait of Freya Lundgren, design advisor

Freya Lundgren

Design Advisor

Interaction designer who moved into XR four years ago. She helps students think through usability and comfort during project development.

Upcoming Cohorts

We run two cohorts per year. Each group has its own schedule and rhythm, but the curriculum stays consistent.
